Deborah Cohler

Deborah Cohler, Ph.D. in English (Brown University)

Deb Cohler (she/her) teaches and researches topics relating to queer theory, LGBT literature, disability studies, and the politics of war and militarism. In her first book, Citizen, Invert, Queer: lesbianism and war in early twentieth century Britain, she explores the impact of the "Great War" (World War I) on British ideas about sexuality, gender and race. She is currently researching the role of military spouses in the US's "Forever Wars" of the twenty first century. In all her community work, teaching and research, she foregrounds how historical and present-day structures of power impact how we live and think and create community.
