Deborah Cohler's areas of interest include feminist theory, queer/sexuality studies, critical military studies and the interrelationships among gender, sexuality, race and nationalism. She is the author of Citizen, Invert, Queer: Lesbianism and War in Early Twentieth Century Britain (University of Minnesota Press, 2010) as well as articles on the gendered and sexual effects of World War I and the War on Terror. She is currently writing a monograph that examines mass cultural and subcultural representations of military spouses in US culture at the turn of the twenty-first century.
